How to configure Push Notifications and run campaigns?

Go to Push Notifications > Settings to configure your push notifications.

  1. The first step is to design a request to your customers asking them to subscribe to push notifications
  2. The second step is to design how your actual push notification looks when you send them to your subscribed customers.
  3. An optional third step if you are on the paid plans is to set up abandoned cart notifications

Step 1: Asking your customers to subscribe to push notifications

Your customers are asked to subscribe to push notifications through a browser prompt. You can rely on the default browser prompt (single opt-in) or to show a custom prompt (double opt-in) before they see a browser prompt.

While the custom prompt requires a double opt-in from customers, it is our recommended option because:

  1. If the customer chooses no on the custom prompt, we can choose to ask them again at a later date (say 2 weeks later) once they are more engaged and are more likely to say yes. However once they say no on the default browser prompt, they will never be asked again to subscribe as the browser remembers the rejection.
  2. The custom prompt is consistent with your brand and can be customized to increase the likelihood of them subscribing.

To set up a custom prompt, we recommend uploading your logo, setting the title and description. Also choose how soon you want them to see the prompt after engaging with the page (Show Subscription dialog). The frequency sets the number of days after which we can re-ask your customers if they want to subscribe.

Step 2: Designing your push notification in Campaigns.

Campaigns are how you communicate special events / sales / discounts / new products / etc. to customers. Click on Push Notifications > Campaigns and then click on ‘Create Campaign’. Fill in the following:

  1. Title for the campaign: This is the first line that your customers will see. Your call to action.
  2. Message: Explain the message and give them more details.
  3. Link: Which landing page do you want them to be directed to if they click on the push notification.
  4. Notification Timing: Choose if you want to send now or if you want to schedule for a later date.

We recommend leaving your icon / logo in so that customers can see your branding.

Remember to  click Send or Schedule button at the bottom.

Step 3: Designing abandoned cart notifications

If you are on the paid plans, you can also configure abandoned cart notifications from Push Notifications > Abandoned Cart. We allow up to 3 push notifications to be sent to customers who have abandoned their carts.

  1. Activate the reminder notifications you want by clicking the toggle button.
  2. Select how soon after the cart abandonment to send the notification.
  3. Set the title and the body of the message to send for each of the reminders.

Please click Save once you are done.
